Doug Lawson,

For 50 years, Doug Lawson has been practicing business and taxation law within the Windsor- Essex community. Doug has built relationships with highly reputable organizations through both his legal practice and community involvement. He is actively involved in his community as a Senior Member of the Investment Committee for the University of Windsor, which oversees investments exceeding $650 million dollars. He is also a Commissioner of the Windsor Utilities Commission.

Doug came out of retirement and was appointed Counsel to Willis Business Law at its inception. Throughout the years Doug has earned a tremendous amount of recognition and awards. For over 35 years, Doug has held the designation of Queen’s Counsel (Q.C.) which was granted to him by HRH Queen Elizabeth II. In 2003 the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario appointed Doug as a Member of the Order of Ontario (O.Ont.), the most prestigious official honour in the Province of Ontario, for his excellence and achievement in the practice of law. In 2008, Doug was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Laws by the University of Windsor.

Doug is one of Ontario’s most qualified business lawyers. His integrity, knowledge and wisdom are greatly admired by his peers. Doug is both an invaluable member of our team and role model for the firm’s bright young lawyers and articling students. Doug provides expert advice and mentorship to our business law department.

In his spare time, Doug enjoys travel, gardening, photography, audio books, entertaining and his family of three married children and grandchildren.
